Vella, Alice Bassett, 80, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 18, 2000) in Las Vegas. She came here in 1973 from her native Rochester, N.Y. She was owner and operator of a restaurant and was Catholic. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Vella Hull, Henderson, and Phyllis Vella Follett, Cambridge, Mass.; a brother, Patrick Bassett, Bluffton, S.C.; a sister, Norma Bassett, Fairport, N.Y.; and a grandson. Blount, Curry & Roel Funeral Homes & Cemeteries, Beach Chapel, St. Pete Beach.
