      Funeral services honoring the life of Lois Beatrice Curwin Bassett, 97, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 at University Church of Christ, 2045 E. 70th St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be ministers Stuart Freeman and Jerry Hodge. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will immediately follow in Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana.
      Lois Beatrice Curwin Bassett was born August 10, 1924 in Del Rio, Texas to Charles Andrew Clay Curwin and Gladys Mae Billings. She passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Ruston, Louisiana.
      Lois taught special education classes in Baton Rouge. She was a member and served as president of the Geological Auxiliary. Lois loved to cook, sew and crochet. As a vibrant, colorful, and sparkly Christian woman she carried a strength and resilience from her life growing up during the World War II era. Lois loved the Lord with all her body, mind, and soul. She embodied a true matriarch spirit with her unwavering strength as well as Christian example. Even at the age of 80 she organized a group called ?Soup Group? to serve shut in seniors with a made-from-scratch meal once a month. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
      She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Leslie Osgood; her loving husband of over 52 years, Roger Julian Bassett; and sons, Gary R. Bassett and Robert ?Bobby? Bassett.
      Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rebecca ?Becky? R. Bassett Martin and husband, Ben; son, Michael R. Bassett and wife, Ruth; 14 grandchildren and 10 spouses; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Lois had a total of 61 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
      Honoring Lois as pallbearers will be Joseph Bassett, Michael L. Bassett, Timmy Bassett, Brandon Martin, Corey Martin and Tommy Rainer.
