Born in Chesterfield County, Va., he was the son of the late Benjamin Leonard Bass and Julia Elizabeth Tolley Bass. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a retired shipping manager and served in the Navy Reserves. He is survived by his sons, Leonard Brantley Bass Jr. and Andrew Lee Bass; four grandchildren; his brother, Ira Woodson Bass. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lee Bass. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Maury Cemetery, with Reverend Larry Posey officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
