Ira Woodson Bass, 72
Ira Woodson Bass, age 72, of Chesterfield, died January 22, 2007. A Chesterfield native, Woody was a Past Master of Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #161; Worthy Patron of the Blanche Spencer Chapter #11 of the Order of the Eastern Star; a life member of Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad; and a member of the ACCA Shriner's country and western band. Woody retired from DuPont in 1993 after 38 years of faithful service. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy; and his two sons, James Woodson Bass and his wife, Sandy of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Keith W. Bass and his wife, Lynn; and two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Bass of Beaufort, S.C.; his aunt, Sally Ewing; his uncle, Leland Bass and his wife, Henrietta; two nephews, Brantley and Andrew Bass; and a "son by choice," Scott Earley and his wife, Peggy, and children, Megan and Tim. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Oak Forest Baptist Church, 5101 Courthouse Road, at 2 p.m. Friday. Interment at Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #161 Roofing Fund, 10414 Dakins Drive, Richmond, Va. 23236.
