Twila Sue Bass Lyles
Twila Sue Bass Lyles was born in Old London, Texas on May 19, 1935.
She is survived by sons, Ronald Gene Lyles and wife Andrea, Charles Dwayne Lyles and wife Shelly; granddaughters, Laurie Lynn Lyles-Gonzalez and husband Luis and Rebecca Ann Lyles; grandson, Cullen Warner Lyles; three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Thomas and Eric Gonzalez; one brother, Larry Wynn Bass and wife Kathy; two nephews, Jason and Eric Bass and their wives, Donnita and Shanna; four great nieces, Lauren Ameila, Katilyn, Madilyn and Ainsly.
She is also survived by a huge church family and many many wonderful friends.
Twila was preceded in death by her parents, Sue and Cullen Bass; an infant son,James Cullen Lyles; husband of nearly 50 years, Cecil Eugene Lyles and many aunts and uncles who played such an important role in her life.
Throughout her life, Twila checked groceries, worked for a lawyer, Frizzell Pontiac, The Recorder, the county and retired from the city. Her favorite job was housekeeping and trying to keep up with the grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, January 17th from 6-8pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, January 18th at The First Baptist Church of Fairfield. Interment will follow at Stewards Mill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Barber, Joe Lee Kirgan III, Randy Mitchael, Harold Massey, Keith Whitaker and Charlie Ritchey. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Lee Kirgan Jr., Willie Ward, Malcolm Wood and Kenneth Tidrow.
