Arthur C. Bessette
Turners Falls, June 17 – Arthur Charles Bessette, 85, of Madison Ave., died late last night at the Farren Memorial Hospital. He was born in Canada on Oct. 13, 1867, the son of Honore and Eudoxie (Montez) Bessette and had lived in this town for the past 65 years. He was a retired mason, a charter member of the Eagles and a charter member of St. Jean de Baptiste Society. He leaves his wife, the former Delana Young; four sons, Winslow of New London, Conn., Harold of Springfield, Charles of Turners Falls, and Arthur C. Bessette Jr., of Greenfield; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Disautel of Riverside and Mrs. Mildred Gosselin of Baltimore, Md., 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place Friday morning at 8 at the McCarthy funeral home, with a requiem high mass at 8.30 in St. Ann’s Church. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
