Archie Roberts Bassett
July 26, 1932 ? May 24, 2017
Archie Roberts Bassett, an incredible man, went to join the Lord on May 24, 2017. Archie was born to Martha and William Bassett in Pennsylvania on July 26, 1932. He married Margaret Brown and together they raised four daughters. Margaret predeceased him and he missed her every day. There is no doubt that he is with her again in Heaven.
He spent time in the Army where he attended Armor School for Tank Leadership. He was awarded the Occupation Medal (Germany). Archie was a bricklayer by trade. A great family man, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a faithful member of St. Paul?s U. M. C. His religious beliefs guided him through life. Archie enjoyed spending time camping and fishing. He loved to fish for Catfish and was happy when he could bring some home for dinner. He also loved the Redskins and was looking forward to watching them win this year. He enjoyed going to both Cracker Barrel and to Old Country Buffet. He was a long time member of the Woodbridge American Legion.
Archie is survived by his four daughters, Donna Lehmann (the late Paul), Brenda Iddins (Joel), Cynthia Tyler (Glenn) and Patricia D?Andrea (CPO David USN). His six grandchildren, Paul Rease (Annette), Christina Rease who predeceased him, Joel T Iddins II, Ryan Iddins (Pamela), Mackenzie D?Andrea and Dominic D?Andrea. His seven great grandchildren, Taylor Rease, Amber Rease, Patrick Rease, Micaiah Iddins, Seth Iddins, Aria Iddins and Logan Iddins also survive him. His family will always remember how much love he shared with them. They will hold him in their hearts and keep his memory alive.
There will be a visitation at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road in Woodbridge, VA on Tuesday, May 30th from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM. A funeral service will take place at St. Paul?s U.M.C. in Woodbridge, VA on Wednesday, May 31 starting at 10:30am followed by burial with honors at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Archie?s name can be made to St. Paul?s U.M.C. or to the Woodbridge American Legion.
