James Franklin Bass Jr.
James Franklin Bass Jr., 68, formerly of Wilson, N.C., died April 18, 1999.
Mr. Bass was born Dec. 12, 1930. He was an active member of I.B.E.W. Local 80 and a retired electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Forbes Bass; a daughter, Belinda H. and her husband, Johnny Lewis, of Portsmouth; sons and their wives, James E. and Nancy Bass, Bucky W. and Debbie Bass, all of Wilson, Danny R. and Amy Hales of Charlotte; sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Prentice R. Whitman, and Joyce Shackleford, all of Wilson, Elizabeth Koellner of Elizabeth City; brothers and their wives, William ''Billy'' D. and Mae Bass of Wilson, Glen ''Ray'' and Ruth Ann Bass of Atlantic, Va.; grandchildren, Heather Bass and Kevin Bass of Wilson, Laurey Ann Kauffman of Dublin, Calif., T.J. Lewis and Kris Lewis of Portsmouth, and Michelle Barrett of Virginia Beach, Sharon Hales of Charlotte; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Joyner's Funeral Home, Wilson, by the Rev. Merrill Davis. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times the family will be at the home of Shirley Whitman, 4504 Firestone Lane, Wilson.
