HARRIS, Elizabeth Bassett, 80, of Richmond, Va., passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Reginald Bassett and Marion Pemberton Bowen; and her husband of 52 years, Thomas Clay Harris, former owner of T&E Construction Company and Tom's Country Store. She is survived by four daughters, Deborah H. Thomas (Alvin), Cynthia A. Harris (Chas Clements), Paula H. Moody (Tom) and Beth Harris; grandchildren, Thomas E. Dodson (Suzzie), Matthew H. Dodson, Elizabeth C. Willis, Coburn and Tanner Clements; one great-grandson, Thomas Clay Dodson; and Tyler and Alaina Wilkinson, whom she loved. She is also survived by one sister, Peggy J. Simmons (Gator); and several nieces and nephews and their families; and her dearest friend of 53 years, Helen Harrison. Elizabeth better known as "Nannie" to those closest to her, was dedicated to her family and friends. She was a committed wife, sacrificing mother and most loving grandmother. She gave of her time, talents and money, always willing to do for others and put them first. Special thanks are extended to all her caregivers whom she loved. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow Westhampton Memorial Park.
