Clarence M. "Clancy" Bassett, 76, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, April 1
at Life Care Center, LaGrange.
He was born to Cluro D. and Ruth Weyrick Bassett on June 9, 1915 in
South Bend.
Mr. Bassett retired from Jayco of Middlebury, where he was a truck
driver. He was a member of the Middlebury American Legion Post 210, the VFW of
Kendallville, a life member of DAV at Goshen, the LaGrange Moose Lodge and the
LaGrange Eagles Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Della Davidson Kinsey, who he married May
1, 1976 in Middlebury; two daughters, Kay Nelson of Angola and Kim Richards of
Sturgis, Mich.; one son, Kit of LaGrange; one stepdaughter, Diana Kinsey of
Sturgis; three stepsons, Walter Kinsey Jr., Rob Kinsey and Alan Kinsey, all of
Sturgis; one sister, Ruth Miller of Kingswood, Texas; two brothers, Jack
Ludwig of Granger and William Ludwig of League City, Texas and 13
grandchildren.

Clarence M. "Clancy" Bassett, 76, of LaGrange died yesterday at Life
Care Center. He moved to LaGrange from Sturgis, Mich., in 1984. He retired as
a truck driver from Jayco in Middlebury. Surviving are his wife, Del
Davidson Kinsey Bassett; daughters, Kay Nelson of Angola and Kim Richards of
Sturgis, Mich.; a son, Kit of LaGrange; a stepdaughter, Diana Kinsey of
Sturgis; stepsons, Walter Kinsey Jr., Rob Kinsey and Alan Kinsey, all of
Sturgis; a sister, Ruth Miller of Kingwood, Texas; brothers, Jack Ludwig of
Granger and William Ludwig of League City, Texas; and 13 grandchildren.
Calling will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Frurip-May Funeral Home,
LaGrange, with services at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts to the LaGrange County Cancer Society
or the American Heart Association.
