Mr. Jack Morris Bass, age 66, of 297 Ebenezer Road, Ellaville, Georgia died Monday evening, July 24, 2000 at his home in Ellaville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2000 at 11:00 AM at Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honrs. Reverend Thom Davies and Reverend Asbury Walotn will officiate.
Mr. Bassett was born in Jackson County, Ohio on August 2, 1933. He was the son of the late William and Blanche Ramsey Bassett. Mr. Bassett was a retired United States Air Force Sergeant where he had served two terms in Vietnam and servied in the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Schley County for the past eleven years and ran J & L. Sales of Ellaville. Mr. Bassett was a member of Corinth Methodist Church in Ellaville, GA and a member of the Americus VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maurine Bassett, one son, James (Jimmy) Bassett of Covington, GA, on e step son, Jeff Barfield of Americus, GA, one step daughter, Brenda Barfield of Ellaville, GA, one sister, Patty Fry of Connecticut, Ohio. Four grandchildren, and 1 great ghandchild also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at Waton-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Rad N.D., Atlanta, GA 30329.
Watson-Giddens Funeral Home of Ellaville, GA is in charge of arrangements.

ELLAVILLE - Services for Jack Morris Bassett will be at 11 a.m. today in Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. Bassett, 66, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at his residence. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam and Korean Wars, he operated J&L Sales. He was a member of Corinth Methodist Church and the VFW in Americus. Survivors include his wife, Maurine Bassett; son, James Bassett of Covington; stepchildren Jeff Barfield of Americus and Brenda Barfield of Ellaville; sister, Patty Fry of Ohio; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta 30329. Watson-Giddens Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
