David Binford Bass
David Binford Bass, 82, of Colonial Heights, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. He was a native of Moseley, Va. and was the son of the late Howard A. Sr. and Ida Mae Bass. Mr. Bass retired from VDOT after 24 years of service, a member of the Masons, Senior Citizens, and TPA. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Moseley, Va. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by a brother, H. Aubrey Bass Jr., and a sister, Doris Bass Fowler. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Magaline Cash Bass; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and William Arrington of Colonial Heights; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Judy Bass of Henderson, N.C.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Ross Strickland of Nashville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Bill and wife, Cathy Arrington, Ruthann and husband, Adam McComb, Tracy and Kathryn Bass, Binford, Mathew and Coley Strickland; two sisters, Thelma Bolin of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Anne McDaniel of Chester; and a sister-in-law, Esther Bass of Moseley. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 18100 Genito Rd., Moseley, Va., with the Dr. Herbert O. Browning Jr. to officiate. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Va.
