Edith Bass
LAKELAND -- Edith Bass, 79, of Lakeland, passed away Saturday night, May 15, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness.
She was born in Clinch County and had lived in Lanier County for most of her life. She was a devoted member of the Unity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Frosted Flakes. She was also a member of the Friendship Quilting Club.
Her sister, Agnes Smith, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, John D. Bass Sr., of Lakeland; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Britt Moore of Waycross; a son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Glenda R. Bass Jr., of Homerville; five grandchildren, Clint, Amy, John III "Trey," April, and Jamie; four great-grandchildren, Cisco, Nathan, Walker, and Aniston; a sister, Christine Strickland of Millers Creek, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Unity United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight. Mrs. Bass will lie in state one hour prior to services.
