  Notes	Macon Telegraph, Tuesday, February 24, 1925 Peach Planter Succumbs Steve Bassett, 65, Dies Sunday at Fort Valley Home FORT VALLEY, Ga., Feb. 23 ? Steve Bassett, who would have been 65 years of age on March 7, died at his home here late Sunday night after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Bassett was the owner of many acres of Houston County land and much real estate in the City of Fort Valley. He was a member of the Congregational Church, founded and built by his father many years ago. His wife died a few years ago. She was before her marriage ss Maud Brown. Four children survive. They are Miss Lucy Bassett, Ralph, Noble and Steve Bassett of this city. There is one sister, Miss Frances Bassett and three brothers, Gus and Sid Bassett of Fort Valley and Charlie Bassett of Minneapolis. The funeral service will take place tomorrow afternoon at 3 o?clock at the home of Mr. Bassett, known as the Bassett Hotel. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
