Emmett Bass
BASS, Emmett ''Tel'' Passed away March 30, 2007, in Sacramento. He was 85 years old and a longtime resident of Sacramento. He was born in Richmond, Va., where he grew up, and graduated from Virginia Tech. He served as an officer in the armed forces in World War II overseeing a POW Camp, and in the Korean Conflict his crew designed and built the Freedom Bridge. Tel worked as an architectural engineer for Standard Oil of California for over 25 years. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Susan and Georga, grandchildren Gina, Ellen, Pamela, Maria, and Timothy Emmett, great-granddaughter Angelique, niece Holly and nephew Hunter. Friends are welcome for services on Thursday, April 5, at 2:00 PM at EAST LAWN MORTUARY, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pace Benicia day program for handicapped adults, 425 Military East, Benicia, CA 94510.

Emmett Latelle Bass
Emmett LaTelle "Tel" Bass, Jr., 85, passed away March 30, 2007, in Sacramento, Calif. He was born and grew up in Richmond, attended John Marshall High School and graduated from VPI in 1942. He was the son of the late Mary Louise Betts Bass and Emmett LaTelle Bass. He was predeceased by four sisters, Dorothy Bass Steinmeyer, Katherine Bass, Helen Bass Conrad, and Lucy Bass Sterling; and niece, Mary Katherine "Taffy" Sterling. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Letellier Bass; daughters, Susan Bass Tenorio and Georga Bass James and husband, Peter James; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nephews, Hunter Ray Sterling III and Stewart Plummer Conrad, Jr.; and niece, Holly Conrad Hartley. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army overseeing a POW Camp during WWII, and designing and building the Freedom Bridge during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bass was a longtime resident of Sacramento where he worked as an engineer for Standard Oil of California for over 25 years. A memorial service was held at East Lawn Mortuary in Sacramento on Thursday, April 5, 2007.
