Miss Janet E. Bassett, daughter of Mrs. Clifford B. Bassett of Holliston, who announces her engagement to Mr. H. Bently Crouch, son of Mr. Herbert R. Crouch of Weston. Miss Bassett is also the daughter of the late Mr. Bassett. Mr. Crouch is a graduate of the Belmont Hill School. A June wedding is planned.

Janet E. (Bassett) Crouch, 86, of Arlington and Eastham passed away unexpectedly on August the 21st, 2016. Raised and resided in Holliston until moving to Weston when she married and where she raised her family. She was born in Framingham, daughter of the late Clifford and Alice (Williams) Bassett. Predeceased by brothers Charles (Sonny) Bassett and Clifford (Jim) Bassett Jr. Janet was the beloved wife of the late H. Bentley Crouch of Weston. She was the devoted mother of Mary (Crouch) Tierney of Mattapoisett, formerly of Arlington, Belmont and Weston, her son James B. Crouch and his wife Lillian of Arlington; 4 beloved granddaughters, Kelsey, Michaela, Hannah and Alexandra; many nieces, relatives and friends around the country; and her beloved Siamese cat Biddy. She was a graduate of Holliston High School and worked for the Bell System as an operator. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years. Janet was a passionate reader, lover of crossword puzzles, feeding and watching birds and loved TV. She enjoyed travel and simply going out for a nice meal. She was happiest spending time with her family. Her time spent at her cottage in Eastham was truly her heaven on earth. There will be a memorial event for Janet in the coming weeks.
