Patricia Elizabeth "Pat" Bass, 86, of Tulsa, passed from this life peacefully on January 24, 2021. A private family service was held on Wednesday, February 3rd.
Pat was born in Emmitsburg, Maryland, on August 1, 1934, the daughter of Charles Edward and Beatrice Pearl (Messner) Smith. She grew up in Thurmont, Maryland, and following her graduation from high school, she attended the University of Maryland to pursue her love of helping people through nursing. While working as a registered nurse in Baltimore, she met the love of her life, Dr. Haskell Harris Bass, Jr. They began dating, and were later married in Washington, D.C., in 1958. Throughout their 59 years of marriage, they enjoyed spending time with one another playing tennis, socializing and traveling with friends, and spending time at Grand Lake.
Pat loved her dogs very much, and she looked forward to taking them on daily walks. She had a passion for cooking, and was happy when seeing others enjoy the delicious food that she made. She also studied calligraphy, and shared her talents through this beautiful form of handwriting.
She was an active member of All Saints Anglican Church, Registered Nurse Community Volunteers (RNCV), Chapter EC PEO, Tulsa County Medical Alliance, and Tulsa Southern Tennis Club.
She is survived by her children, Haskell H. Bass, III, of Yukon, OK, Patricia R. Schneider, Elizabeth A. Bass, and Robert J. Bass; two grandchildren, Kaylie M. Schneider and Barrett A. Schneider, all of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Doris Rippeon and Nancy Creager; brother, Richard "Dick" Smith; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Robert Smith; and sisters, Joan Clarke and Joyce Smith.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Pat's name to the Nurses Clinic at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, 415 W. Archer St., Tulsa, OK 74103; All Saints Anglican Church, 4040 E. 91st St., Tulsa, OK 74137 or to the Alzheimer's Association by visiting www.alz.org. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers and friends from Legend at Tulsa Hills.
