- ESTELL - Doris Eleanor Estell, age 84, 1240 Athens Point, Las Vegas, NV,
formerly of 518 Pennsylvania Avenue, St. Cloud, FL, died Sunday morning, March
6, 2005, at 4:45 a.m. in the Odyssey Hospice, Las Vegas. She had been in
failing health for the past year.
Doris was born March 11, 1920, in Canisteo, NY, to Earl Bassett and Bernice
(Foster) Bassett. She was a a 1937 graduate of Canisteo High School, NY. She
served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1939 to
1943 with service at Camp Ruston, LA, and Camp Oglethorpe, GA. She was also
employed as a hair stylist in Greenwood, NY. On December 4, 1945, she married
Nathan Vorhis Estell at the First Presbyterian Church in Canisteo, NY. Nathan
(Major, U.S. Air Force, Retired), passed away 2 February 1971 and is buried at
Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, FL.
Doris is survived by three daughters: Sandra Estell of Alexandria, VA; Diane
Chartier of Las Vegas, NV; and Donna Hall of Fayetteville, PA; five
grandchildren: Timothy Lemiuex of Cocoa, FL; Todd Lemieux of Alexandria, VA;
Jamie Chartier of Las Vegas, NV; Jill Hall of Leesburg, VA; and Sara Hall of
Littleton, CO: and one grandchild; Justin Lemieux of Cocoa, FL.
Arrangements are being made by Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society of
Las Vegas, NV, and Fisk Funeral Home, St. Cloud, FL. A private memorial
service will be conducted by family members and close friends at a later date.
Interment will be at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, FL.
