Forest Eugene Irvine
Forest Eugene Irvine, 90, of Shell Knob, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, in St. John's Hospital, Berryville, Ark.
He was born Oct. 16, 1916, in El Dorado, Kan., the son of J. Eugenio and Bessie (Marley) Irvine. On Nov. 10, 1939, in Yates Center, Kan., he was united in marriage to Flossie Ellen Bassett and to this union two daughters were born. Flossie preceded him death on Nov. 22, 1993. In March, 1994, he married Helen Cradduck who died May 3, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Margaret Ellen Bass; three brothers, Robert Irvine, Jesse Irvine and Richard Irvine and two sisters, Gladys Admire and Eola May Kensley.
Survivors include: a daughter, Norma Jean Bass and her husband, Jerry, of Shell Knob; two sisters, Lillian Stull and Hazel Young, both of El Dorado, Kan.; three grand-children; and five great grandchildren.
He lived in Missouri from the age of six until he was about 14. Most of his life was spent in Butler County Kansas. From 1939 until 1945 he was a dairy farmer. In 1945 he went to work for Skelly Refinery, retiring from Getty in 1979 after 33 years of service. He moved to Shell Knob at the age of 89 to be with his daughter, Norma Jean. He was always active in church. He helped start the First Church of God in Augusta, Kan. He also attended for a short time the Southern Baptist Church in Augusta and also the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in El Dorado. He attended the Lohmer Full Gospel Church in Shell Knob.
Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) in Walnut Valley Memorial Park, El Dorado, Kan., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
