      BURLINGTON - Allen Aloyious Bassett Jr., age 84, of Burlington, died Thursday,
      Nov. 27, 2003, at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Villa Park, Ill., to
      Allen A. Sr. and Mary J. (nee Miller) Bassett. He spent his early li
      Villa Park, Ill, and Fredonia, Wis., and he attended UW-Madison Agricultural
      School. On Feb. 19, 1941, he married Mary Ballweg at St. Norbert's Catholic
      Church in Roxbury, Wis. Following marriage they lived in Waukesha and
      Burlington. He was a farmer and also worked for Burlington Consumers
      Cooperative, retiring after 37 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic
      Church in Lyons and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He loved travellin
      playing cards, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and
      friends. He had been a Burlington resident for the past 61 years. Survivors
      include his wife, Mary Bassett of Burlington; children, Joan (Dick) Blatnik of
      Waterford, Virginia Laskowski of Burlington, David Bassett of Delavan, Richard
      (Nancy) Bassett of Burlington, Lorraine (Tom) Stelling of Lake Geneva,
      Patricia (Roy) Brzezinski of Burlington, and Robert Bassett of Burlington; 25
      grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and twin sister, Lucille Rossio of
      Palm Desert, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Larry
      Laskowski; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie (Edward) Jung, Margar
      (Paul) Chadourne, Edna (Frank Krause), Grace Bassett and Florence Bassett.
      Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's
      Catholic Church in Lyons, with the Rev. Tom Fait and Dan Hull, parish
      director, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives
      and friends may meet with the family Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, from 3 p.m. to 7
      p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7 pm, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home,
      Burlington. Memorials to the Aurora VNA (Hospice) of Lake Geneva or local area
      Catholic grade schools have been suggested.
