Henry (Harry) Bassett III
Henry Bassett III, (Harry), 85, of Cape May and Highland Beach, Florida, died
Sunday morning in The Fountains Nursing Facility, Boca Raton, Fla. Mr. Bassett
was born in Philadelphia, Pa., formerly lived in Devon, Pa. for 45 years, and
later has divided his time between Cape May and Highland Beach. He and his
late brother Robert, were the owners and salesmen for over 50 years of the
Bassett McNab Co. in Philadelphia, a wholesale decorative fabric firm. He was
a member of the Decorative Fabric Association. He attended Temple University
and the University of Pennsylvania. he was a veteran of the US Navy, serving
during WW II. He was a longtime member of the Vespers Club of Philadelphia; he
was a Mason in Pennsylvania; and he was a member of phi Gamma Delta. He was a
member of the Cape May Cottager’s Association, the Cape May taxpayers
Association, and mid-Atlantic Center of the Arts. Mr. Bassett was predeceased
by a son, William A. Bassett, and his twin brother, Robert M. Bassett. He is
survived by: his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Betsey) Fite Bassett; two
daughters, Dorothy Sweeny-Rights (and Jeff Rights) of Dallas, TX., and Wendy
(and Chris) Staunton, of Crozier, Va.; a son, Henry (and Susan) Bassett, IV.,
of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter-in-law Susan Spear Bassett, of Baltimore, M
sister, Ann B. (and Lars) Spicer, of Malvern, Pa; seven grandchildren; and two
brothers-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Robert S. Fite of Cape May and Mr. & Mrs. Raymond
L. Fite, of Devon, Pa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, march 20th,
1t 12 noon in the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 780 Seashore Road, Cold
Spring, with visitation from 11;30 to 12 noon. Burial will be in the Co
Spring Church Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to your favorite

Bassett; father of Dorothy Sweeny-Rights, Wendy Staunton, and Henry (Hank)
Bassett IV; sister of Ann Spicer; and grandfather of 7. He was 50 year owner
of Bassett McNab Co., Phila; and was member of Vespers Club. Funeral Services
Thursday, at 12 noon in Cold Spring Presb. Church, Cape May. Burial in Church
Cemetery. (Sudak-Danaher FH, Cape May).
