  Notes	The Evening News, Hornell, New York, Wednesday, 9 October 1963 Floyd S. Bassett CANISTEO ? Floyd S. Bassett, a native and lifelong resident of the Town of Canisteo, died at Bethesda Hospital in North Hornell last night after a long illness. He was 78 years old. He was a farmer on the Bennetts Creek road for most of his life until his retirement about 25 years ago, when he moved to the Village of Canisteo. His only survivors are three nieces, Mrs. Rodney Thompson and Mrs. Ernest Pierce, both of Avoca, and Mrs. Julia Miller of Hammond. The body is at the Crandall and Crandall Funeral Home in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow. The Rev. John Brewster of First Methodist Church of Canisteo will officiate. Burial will be in Bennetts Creek Cemetery.
