Charles “Wimp” Highley
Highley, Charles “Wimp”, 75, of Reader, West Virginia died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Wetzel County Hospital. “Wimp” was born February 16, 1936 in Crows Run, West Virginia son of the late James and Delcie Furbee Highley. He was a timber worker, U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Eugene and Roy Highley and two sisters, Hazel Sovil and Ramona Mason. Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Ellen Bassett Highley; seven children, Gary (Cathy) Highley of Reader, Jamie (Julie) Highley of Money Ridge, West Virginia, Tammy (Mike) Lemasters of Reader, West Virginia, Marvin (Kelly) Highley of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Benny (Tammy) Highley of Reader, Carol (Russell) Walls of Reader, West Virginia, Robert (Kathy) Highley of Reader, West Virginia; brother, Jerry (Joyce) Highley of East Liverpool, Ohio; three sisters, Patricia (Mike) Smith of Weirton, West Virginia, Florence Weekley of New Martinsville, West Virginia and Geraldine (Oscar) Rice of Wileyville, West Virginia; twenty three grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Friends received 2-8 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Williams Funeral Home, 226 N SR 20, Pine Grove West Virginia. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the Straight Cemetery in Crows Run, West Virginia with Pastor Leary VanHorn officiating.
