      Franklin Jared Bassette
      Franklin Jared Bassette, a lifelong resient of Interlaken, passed away at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at the age of 78.
      Frank was the son of the late Myron W. (Sr.) and Margaret S. Filkins Bassette. He was born on June 25, 1923, in Interlaken, New York.
      During World War II Frank faithfully served his country in the 104th Infantry Regiment, seeing action in Europe including the Battle of the Bulge. As a member of the 26th (Yankee) Division he received the Croix de Guerre. He was honorably discharged from the Army on January 5, 1946.
      Frank was employed by B&L Motors in Trumansburg for many years before entering the real estate profession as a sales agent. Following his retirement Frank worked with the Seneca County Senior Nutrition Program.
      Frank was a member of the Interlaken Reformed Church, the Interlaken Fire Department, the Farmersville-Union Lodge #183 F&AM, Interlaken, the Kirk-Casey American Legion Post #366, Seneca Falls and served on the Interlaken Village Board. Even though Frank was constantly on the go he always made time for his family and the important events in their lives.
      Preceding Frank in death were his wife of 46 years Annette Marie Bassette on March 14, 1993; two brothers, James in 1971 and Arthur in 2001 and a sister Mary Bassette in 1920. He is survived by three daughters, Margaret Kopsa of Trumansburg, Diane (Everett) Nelson of Interlaken and Barbara Bassette (Chuck Henderson) of Ithaca; six grandchildren, John (Rachell) Kopsa of Interlaken, Christopher, Nicole and Sonja Nelson all of Interlaken and Annie and Rori Henderson both of Ithaca, a great-granddaughter, Monique Kopsa, two brothers, Myron Wheeler Bassette, Jr. (Betty) of Interlaken and Richard (Sandi) Bassette of Trumansburg and several nieces and nephews.
      A memorial service will be held at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg on Monday, November 26, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Prayers of committal, with full military honors, will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken.
      In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory may be directed to the Interlaken Public Library, P.O. Box 317, Interlaken, New York 14847, the Interlaken Volunteer Fire Department, Main Street, Interlaken, New York 14847 or to the donor's preferred charity.
