William R. Bass
SKANEATELES | William R. Bass, 83, lifetime resident of Skaneateles, passed away at home on Jan. 7, 2016.
William served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 21, 1953 to Oct. 20, 1955. William worked for over 40 years as a lineman with Niagara Mohawk in Syracuse. He was an active member of the St. Mary's of The Lake Church, Skaneateles, the Skaneateles Falls American Legion Post 317, was avid reader and taking trips to Saratoga in the summer months, where he loved the outdoors. Also a big part of William's life was spending time with his family.
William is predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Mary; his twins, a sister, Bonnie Littlefeid; and a brother, Michael.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary; his children, Mary Lynn (Jerry) Oleksa, William Michael, Suzie Gleason (Mike), Timmy; and his step-children, Scott (Juanita) Willis and Brian (Rhonda) Willis; brothers, Peter Kortright and Mark (Nancy) Kortright; sisters, Mary (Dick) Keough, Kathleen (William) Johnson and Pat Eisenberg; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a Catholic Mass on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's of The Lake Church, Skaneateles.
