  Notes	The Journal News, June 1, 2016 Cecyl S. Bassett (1922-2016) Cecyl "Cindy" Smith Bassett of Scarsdale, NY, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1922 to Elizabeth Hudson Smith and Sydney Salisbury Smith. She was the beloved wife of the late William Hastings Bassett III whom she married in 1944. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas S. Bassett and his wife, Nancy, of Rye Brook and William H. Bassett IV and his wife, Carole, of France. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Kristin and Kimberly, and one great-grandson, James. Her cherished sister, Barbaralee "Bolly" Newquist, predeceased her. She attended New York University and graduated from Katharine Gibbs. She served on the Board of Directors and was a Sunday School teacher at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Scarsdale for many years. She was a 50 year member of Manursing Island Club and a member of the Scarsdale Golf Club, where she enjoyed playing bridge with her many wonderful friends. Cecyl's family would like to thank the special individuals who assisted with her care during the final years of her life.
