Virginia “Jean” Bassett,
Oct. 11, 1928 - March 17, 2010, Age 81, Residence: Evans
Virginia "Jean" Bassett, 81, of Evans, died on March 17, 2010 at the North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Inpatient Unit. She was born October 11, 1928 in Greeley to Virgil Wilson and Jessie May (Campbell) Potts. Virginia married Paul W. Bassett on November 30, 1947 in Greeley and he died on June 30, 1998. She graduated from Greeley High School and worked as a rate clerk for A.T. Burbridge Trucking Company for many years. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the VFW Post #2121 Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered at the UCCC, member of the 10 Pins Bowling Association and the Razorbacks Softball team during World War II. Virginia loved traveling, golf, bowling, playing pool, softball and attending her great-grandchildren's sporting events. She was also a football fan of Notre Dame and the Denver Broncos and enjoyed the Avalanche and Rockies. She also loved dogs and horses, especially draft horses, and mules as well as the Scottish-Irish festivals. The highlight for her was the Tattoo's. She is survived by her daughter Marsha White and son Brad "Bubba" (Suzie) Bassett all of Greeley. Her grandchildren include Jacqué "JJ" White of Greeley, Justin White of Kersey, Brianne Bassett of Evans, Anna Kraus and Max Kraus both of Denver, great-grandchildren Dillen Gregg of Greeley, Brock, Jaymie and Brody White all of Kersey and Bailey Props of Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Service 2 p.m. Wednesday at our chapel. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the Barbara Davis Center for Juvenile Diabetes in care of Allnutt, 702 13th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80631.
