Annie B. Davis

CHICHESTER, N.H. - Annie B. Davis, 82, died Feb. 26.
Ms. Davis was born Annie Ruth Bassett in Harwich, the daughter of Roger and
Madelin (Beaupre) Bassett. She attended and graduated from local schools on
Cape Cod where she worked and lived until she became an Army Air Corps
Surgical Tech, stationed in Massachusetts and Colorado.
She married and was honorably discharged in 1946. She and her family lived in
Los Angeles and Sacramento, Calif., for the next few years. Finding herself a
single parent of two small children, she went to work as a nurse's aide at
Rideout Hospital in Marysville, Calif.
During her 15-year hospital and nursing home employment, she attended nursing
school, graduating as a licensed practical nurse. Moving to New Hampshire in
1966, Ms. Davis worked at Concord Hospital as a surgical medical nurse,
retiring after 20 years of dedicated service. She then worked, often double
and triple shifts, at Epsom Manor Nursing Home for the next five year
Ms. David loved the great outdoors enjoying gardening, fishing, hunting,
hiking, rock hounding and gold panning, all of which she shared with her
children and grandchildren. She was an assistant troop leader for both Boy
Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Ms. Davis is survived by her daughter, Ann Davis of Chichester, N.H.; her son,
David L. Davis Jr. of Tennessee; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
her sister Gloria Straughn of Brewster; and numerous cousins, nephews a
nieces.
A funeral service was held March 13 at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans.
