EAST DENNIS - Delia A. (Bassett) Aubin, 79, of East Dennis, died Wednesday,
May 31, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital. She was the widow of Aldege Aubi
Born in Harwich, the daughter of the late Roger L. and Madeline
(Beaupre) Bassett of Harwich and Brewster, she was a direct descenda
William and Elizabeth (Tilden) Bassett, who landed in Plymouth in 1621 aboard
the Fortune, the supply ship of the Mayflower. She was also a direct
descendant of Samuel Bassett, who served with distinction in the Revolutionary
War and Benjamin Bassett Jr., a Civil War veteran.
Mrs. Aubin was a shift supervisor at the Aerovox Corp. in New Bedford.
She entertained audiences there with her accomplished guitar and musical
talents.
She was a past officer of the Rebbecas in New Hampshire, where she
owned and operated a 300-acre farm in Warner that raised Herefords and Black
Angus.
She lived in New Hampshire for 18 years before returning to Cape Cod
in 1980. Her oil on canvas and needlework arts were considered legendary.
She was kind to all and was well known for her generosity. S
sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Survivors include two sons, John Aubin Sr. of East Dennis and Robert
Aubin of Seekonk; a grandson, John Aubin Jr. of East Dennis; a granddaughter,
Amy Aubin of East Dennis; five sisters, Claudette Clement of Yarmouthport,
Gloria Straughn of Brewster, Anne Davis of Chichester, N.H., Madelyn Vincent
of Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, and Janette Dennis of Sun City, Ariz.; and two
brothers, Roland Bassett of Brewster and Royce Bassett of Orlean
Her private graveside service will take place in Brewster Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Done, Beal and Ames Funeral home, Route 134, South
Dennis.
