Service Held For Bassett
The Cobb County Bar Association held a memorial service Tuesday at the courthouse in honor of Lyman Earle Bassett, 39-year-old Smyrna attorney who died March 20 of a heart attack.
The bar association passed a resolution praising Bassett of his professional work and his civic contributions.
?His work for his community,? said the resolution, ?Will live on as a fine example of the part that every person in the law should take in civic affairs.?
Bassett lived at 368 Dogwood Circle, Smyrna. He had practiced law in Smyrna since 1957 when he formed the law firm of Bassett and Cochran. Bassett was a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia law school. He was a Navy pilot during World War Two.
