Bassett, Phillip M., 71, of Riverview, died Monday (July 2, 2001) at
home. Born in Hyannis, Mass., he came to the Tampa area in 1981 from Buffalo,
N.Y. He was a chief financial officer, Army veteran, member of A.A.R.P., and
was Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Bassett; a son, Gregory P.
Bassett, Brandon; two daughters, Karen Richards, Columbia, S.C. and Jul
Johnson, Palmetto; a stepson, Piper Edwards, Plant City; two brothers, Forrest
Bassett, South Yarmouth, Mass., and David Bassett, Harwich, Mass.; and eight
grandchildren. Stowers Funeral Home, Brandon.

Phillip M. Bassett, 71
Riverview, Fla. - Phillip M. Bassett, 71, a resident of Riverview who leaves
family on the Cape, died July 2, 2001, at his home.
He was the husband of Cathy Bassett and of the late Anita Bassett.
Mr. Bassett was born in Hyannis. He moved to the Tampa area in 1981 from
Buffalo, N.Y. He was a retired chief financial officer, and Army veteran and a
member of AARP.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Gregory P. Bassett of Brandon; two
daughters, Karen Richards of Columbia, S.C., and Julia Johnson of Palmetto; a
stepson, Piper Edwards of Plant City; two brothers, Forrest Bassett of South
Yarmouth and David Bassett of Harwich; and eight grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late Kenneth Bassett.
Funeral services were at the First Presbyterian Church in Brandon, followed by
burial at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
