Funeral services for Reta Pauline Milton will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Church of the Mountains in Truckee at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Diamond Crest Cemetery in Susanville, California on Friday, January 28th, 2011, at 1:00 p.m.
Pauline passed away on January 20, 2011, in Truckee, where she resided for the past 14 years. She was born on December 8, 1915, in Polo, Missouri. Her family moved to Milliken, Colorado, where Pauline grew up and graduated from high school in 1932. She married Paul Milton in 1936, and together they moved to California in 1944 where they continued to farm and ranch. They moved to Susanville in 1952 and remained until their six children were raised. In addition to Pauline raising a large family she made time to contribute to the community.She was a charter member of the Lassen County Cow Belles, an active supporter of the 4-H and FFA clubs, a member of the Methodist Church and Toastmasters. She spent countless hours as a volunteer with the Lassen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. For relaxing she enjoyed fishing, knitting, card playing and reading.Survivors include three sons: Russell Milton of Alturas, Ron Milton of Susanville, and Fred Milton of Red Rock; two daughters, Karla Pombo of Truckee and Paula Erle of Calpine; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is brother, J.D. Bassett, and sister, Verna Walters. She is preceded in death by husband, Paul Ernest Milton (1982), son, Richard Alan Milton (2009) and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Milton (1964).
