Al Bassett
BREWSTER - Al Bassett of Brewster went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016. He was the most precious husband of Joanne Bassett for 59 years.
Born and raised in Brewster, Al served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Department of Youth Services as an Assistant Facility Administrator for the Outward Bound Program at Nickerson State Park for many years until his retirement. Al was a member of the American Legion and longtime member of Brewster Baptist Church; he was a volunteer fireman in Brewster for many years. Al loved hunting and fishing and was a huge sports fan.
In addition to his loving wife, Al is survived by his loving children: Carol, Kenneth, and Ronald; 4 grandchildren, Joshua and wife Kerry, Joanna, Matthew, and Ryan and wife Jenny, his loving brother Frank Bassett and three very special people to Al: Sandy, Wayne, and Paul.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Brewster Baptist Church,1848 Main St., Brewster.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Al's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 ( www.stjude.org) or charity of one's choice.
