- VIOLA BASSETT
TUSCOLA - Viola Mae Bassett, 85, of Tuscola died at 11:56 p.m. Friday (April 16, 1999) at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 S. Main St., Tuscola. The Rev. Tom Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Order of the Eastern Star services at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Bassett was born July 8, 1913, at Arthur, a daughter of Robert and Ada Gordy Wood. She married Ralph Bassett on Sept. 24, 1938, in Hodgenville, Ky. He died Nov. 23, 1988.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Helen Wood of Tuscola; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Bassett was a homemaker.
She was a member of Tuscola First Christian Church and a volunteer at Pleasant Meadows Christian VIllage, Chrisman, and Douglas County Museum.
Mrs. Bassett was a 50-year member of Marioraetta Rebekah Lodge 347, Arthur, where she was a past nobel grand. She was a member of Tuscola Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 44 and Tuscola American Legion Auxiliary 27.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tuscola First Christian Church, the Eastern Star Home Fund or the Douglas County Museum Association.
