Alton "Wayne" Bassett
Alton "Wayne" Bassett, 70, of Amarillo died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Masusoleum with the Reverend Alan Williamson, of Ware Living Center, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Bassett was born and raised in Amarillo with one of the pioneer families.
He graduated from Canyon High School in 1953 and attended West Texas College and University of Texas at Austin.
He explored life in a variety of occupations before becoming disbaled from dystonia. He was a gifted musician and gourmet chef.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, LaNell Winn and husband, Cecil, of Denton; a nephew, Gregory W. Winn of Denver; and three nieces, Cecilia J. Gordon and husband, Jim, of San Antonio, Sharon G. Winn of Denton and Nicci Winn of Austin.
The family suggests memorials to be to Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, One East Wacker Drive, Suite 2430, Chicago, Illinois 60601-1905, www.dystonia-foundation.org or to BSA Hospice.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
