Marguerite “Maggie” Louise Richard of Clayton
Marguerite “Maggie” Louise Richard of Clayton died Monday in the Yellow Rose Hospice Unit at Methodist Hospital. She was 80.
Born March 19, 1930, in Greencastle, she was raised by Rueben and Margaret (Cooper) Cain. She married Charles Richard on November 20, 1971, and he survives.
Mrs. Richard worked 26 years at the Clayton Cafe before retiring in April of 2009.
She was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church and had attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Hall.
Additional survivors include children Mike Bassett and wife Pam of Brazil, Marcia Lowe and husband Paul of Hazelwood, Stan Bassett and wife Jan of Plainfield, Sandy Bassett of Westminster, Maryland, Vicki Allgood and husband Jay of Waveland; Pam Custis of Clayton; and Junior Bassett and wife Marcella of Plainfield; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and a step-daughter, Patricia Gilbert and husband William of Rosedale.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Clayton with the Reverend Steve Ranson officiating. Interment will be at Clayton Cemetery.
Calling at the funeral home is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
