Bassett
Lois I. Bassett, 82, of Venedocia, died at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday, October 1
2002, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born September 20, 1920, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, the
daughter of the late Joseph Wesley and Golda Mary (Harp) Price. On June 2,
1949, she married Thomas H. Bassett, who survives at home.
Mrs. Bassett was a 1938 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and the Carr
School of Business. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia
and its women's groups. She also belonged to Isaac Van Wart Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution and was a charter member of the Van Wert
County Genealogical Society.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas J. (Connie)
Bassett of Van Wert; one daughter, Linda B. (Denny) Schumm of Van Wert; two
brothers, David (Maxine) Price of Ohio City and John (Evelyn) Price of Mendon;
three grandsons, Lucas Bassett Schumm, Brian Thomas Bassett and Nathan Michael
Bassett, all of Van Wert, and one granddaughter, Bryn Catherine Schumm of Van
Wert.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Catharine Elizabeth Price.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral
Home in Van Wert, the Rev. Wendy S. Pratt officiating. Burial will be in
Venedocia Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
