Edward Clarence Bassett Jr.
Edward Clarence Bassett Jr, age 74, of Hornby, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Bath VA Medical Center. He was born on November 3, 1949 in Corning, the son of the late Edward and Mildred (Lane) Bassett Sr.
Ed was a graduate of Corning Painted Post West High school class of 1968. He worked at Agway in Big Flats before getting drafted in the US Army to serve in Vietnam. He served as a combat engineer with the 1st CAV Division. After his service he returned to Agway for a number of years. Ed then was the owner and operator of E & E Trucking. He served as Town of Hornby court clerk for over 20 years.
Ed took great pride in being a veteran and the bond service members shared. He volunteered countless hours to numerous organizations.
He loved his family and his pets. Ed enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, and The New York Yankees.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Donna Lynn Wexell, son, Edward E. (Audrey) Bassett of Addison, daughter, Bridgett Conlin of Watertown, and grandchildren, Kayla, Brandon, Dakota, and Chris.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery in Dundee on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 am. Military honors will be accorded. A celebration of Ed's life will take place at a time, date, and location to be announced.
