Magnolia Ricks Bass
Magnolia Ricks Bass, affectionately known to all as "Chatty", 98, died Saturday morning, August 18, 2012. She was a member of St. James AME Church, graduate of LeMoyne College, member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and retired after 38 dedicated years of service as a teacher for the Memphis City Schools System. Mrs. Bass, preceded in death by her husband, Scott Bass, Jr. is survived by her two loving daughters, Carol Bass and Verna Bass Vaughn of Memphis, Tennessee; granddaughter, Jonquil Vaughn Prophet and husband, Kevin Prophet of Laurel, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Janai Nicole and Kevin Jr. of Laurel, Maryland, and hosts of nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins in seven states and Canada. Visitation will be 4-6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 23 at N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 12 South Parkway West, Memphis Tennessee. Funeral service will be Friday, August 24 at 11 a.m., St James AME Church, 600 North Fourth Street, Memphis, Tennessee 38107. Interment to follow in National Cemetery. N.J.
