Maria Lynn Bassett of Carmel died May 7 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. She was 41.
Born April 30, 1964, in Greencastle, she was a daughter of Duane and Nancy (Phillips) Bassett.
Mrs. Bassett was a 1983 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended Vincennes University. She worked three years as a volunteer at Head Start Preschool.
She was a member of the Putnam County Council of Handicapped Citizens, First Christian Church in Greencastle where she was a junior deaconess for four years, and Sunshine Friends Ministry in Hamilton County.
Additonal survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Malinda Bassett and Ron Irelan, and a nephew, Matthew Irelan.
Preceding her in death were grandparents C.N. and Helen Phillips and Ralph and Cecile Bassett.
Services will be held at a later date. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. May 12 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, 602 E. Washington St., Greencastle.
