Margaret Bassett
BASSETT, Margaret Jean England, was born and raised in Richmond, Va., and went
peacefully to be with our Lord on January 5, 2011 from her residence at
Lakewood Manor. The family appreciates the comfort and care provided during
her time there, especially the love and care of Anna Day, Carmen Albrecht and
the entire nursing staff. A loving and devoted wife and mother, she w
homemaker who thrived on family and her church activities. Jean was preceded
in death by her husband, former Reynolds executive, William H. Bassett Jr.
Beyond family, their joy was shared during their extensive world-wide travels.
She is survived by their two sons, W. Randolph Bassett and wife, Sandi, of
Richmond, Stephen Harold Bassett and wife, Jenny, of Cumberland, Va.; h
brother, Clyde Christian England Jr. and wife, Joanne, of Maggie Valley, N.C.;
lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert E. (Meryl) Baskett of Richmond;
grandsons, Chris and his wife, Pam, Stephen and his wife, Debbie and Jon
Bassett, all of Richmond; and granddaughter, Jamie Awad of Miami, Fla.; two
great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many other loving family
and friends. In addition to family, Jean focused her attention on her many
Deacon and WMU mission activities of Westhampton Baptist Church and Fairmount
Memorial Baptist Church of Richmond and The First Baptist Church of
Haddonfield, N.J. In her youth, she was a soloist in several churches, serving
in their choirs. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In
later years, she was active in church senior clubs. She was the grandchild of
two of the charter members of Fairmount Memorial Baptist Church, Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas N. England. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, January 11 from 6
to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 12 from 12 noon to 1 p.m., followed by a 1
p.m. funeral service at Woody's, Parham Chapel, 1771 Parham Road, with
interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
