Samuel W. Bassett
A Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2004 at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel in Buriien for Samuel W. Bassett who died on Saturday, April 17, 2004 in Auburn. He was 87. Mr. Bassett was born on April 1, 1917 in Reed Point, Montana and lived in the Seattle area since 1926. He was a graduate of Highline High School in 1934. He served in the U.S. Army in Egypt during World War II. Later, he owned his own bookkeeping company for many years, working with the insurance industry. Mr. Bassett loved the outdoors, and was an avid hiker, backpacker, and mountaineer. After retirement, he served as an Ombudsman for senior centers and nursing homes and enjoyed helping people go on outings. He was a member of the Christian Science Church in Burien and later in Kent. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy J., a son, Michael, of Federal Way and daughters, JoAnn Haberer of Vancouver, and Patricia Saurdiff of Enumclaw. He had one grandson, Tommy Cook of Vancouver. Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
