Rites Set Today for L.A. Bass
Funeral services for Lucius Alonzo Bass, petty officer, first class stationed at Cecil Field Naval Air Station, will be held at 1 p.m. today in Homerville, Ga.
Mr. Bass died Monday at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Jacksonville Naval Air Station.
He was a 20-year Navy veteran and at the time of his death served as a jet aviation mechanic.
Before joining the Navy, Mr. Bass served four years with the Marine Corps, part of which time was spent with the China Expeditionary Force.
During his military career he received commendation from the commanding officer of Attack Squadron 74, the Good Conduct Medal and Korean Service, Asiatic Pacific Service, China Service, American Defense, American Service and United Nations Service stripes.
Mr. Bass is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Olivia B. Barnett, Mrs. Audrey Shaw and Mrs. Eugene B. Boltell, all of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Ruth Croft of Live Oak; two brothers, Vernon L. Bass and Herman Bass, both of Jacksonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
