Matilda B. Boyle
FRANCESTOWN -- Matilda B. "Mit" Boyle, 92, died Jan. 22, 2010, at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough.
She was born June 20, 1917, in Francestown, to Dorothy (Clement) and William Basset. She attended Lynn English High School. After graduating from Chamberlain School in Boston in 1937, she moved to New York City and worked in the executive training program at Bloomingdales and then as a manager at Gimbel's. In 1944, she married Murray Borden Boyle in New York City and they lived in Greenwich Village until their move to New Hampshire in 1945. She lived in Gloucester, Mass., for a few years while her husband worked in the fishing industry, and then returned to Francestown to raise her family.
When her daughter graduated from high school in 1958, she went to New York City to again pursue her career in fashion.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1975.
Family members include a daughter, Susan B. Brackett of Meredith; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at The Old Meeting House in the spring.
