Lydia Splaine, 74, of Lynn
A memorial service for Mrs. Lydia (Basset) Splaine, 74, of Lynn, who was a department store buyer for many years and a bridge expert, will be held tomorrow at 11 at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Swampscott.
She died Saturday in Lynn Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Francestown, N.H., and Lynn resident for many years, Splaine was buyer for the former Burrows and Sanborn Department Store, the former Magraines Department Store, both of Lynn, and the Cherry and Webb Store in Lowell.
She was a bridge life master who taught the game at the Lynn YMNCA, the North Shore Community College, Lynn and Beverly, and the Peabody Senior Citizens. She was a tournament player who played throughout the country.
She leaves a sister, Mrs. Matilda (Basset) Boyle of Irviington-on-Hudson, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Number Two cemetery in Francestown.
Arrangements are by Richardson Funeral Home in Lynn.
