Mrs. Arnold Bailey, Hospital Dietician
FRANCESTOWN, Feb. 14 ? Mrs. Dorothy (Dolly) Basset Bailey, 77, of Main St., former hospital dietician and widow of Arnold Brown Bailey, died Saturday at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a long illness.
She was a native of Francestown.
Mrs. Bailey was graduated from Lynn (Mass.) English High School in 1922. She was a graduate of Framingham (Mass.) State Teachers College, class of 1925. She was a dietician at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, the Winchester, Mass., Hospital and became the head dietician at the State Hospital in Tewksbury, Mass.
She married Mr. Bailey in 1931 and they live in New York City, where she worked as dietician for the City of New York and was president of the New York Dietetic Association. She was also a member of the New Yori Miniature Camera Club. In 1941 the baileys moved to Murray Hill, N.J. where she was president of the Summitt Garden Club. In 1941 the Baileys moved to Murray Hill, N.J., where she was president of the Summit Garden Club and secretary of the Women?s Club there.
She lived in Scotch Plain, N.J., until 1951 and then they moved back to Francestown. They had also lived in Concord, Mass., where she was active in the Antiquarian Society, the Garden Club and the First Parish Unitarian Church.
She was a member of the Unitarian Church and the Historical Society in Francestown. She also did tray painting and was active in the bridge club.
Survivors include a son, Arnold Basset Bailey of Dublin; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia B. Splaine of Lynn, Mass., and Mrs. Matilda B. Boyle of Irvington-on-Hudson, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held in Number 3 Cemetery in Francestown in the spring.
Relatives and friends may call at the family home on Main Street on Sunday, Feb. 22, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The family requests in place of flowers memorial donations to the Francestown Library care of Mrs. Lois McAdams or to the Mondanock Community Hospital in Peterborough.
The Woodbury and Son Funeral Home in Peterborough is in charge of arrangements.
