Harry Bassett

Mr. Harry Bassett, age 87 of Macomb Township, passed away Tuesday at McLaren-Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens.
He was born on March 14, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Henry Edward and Florence Bassett. On October 4, 1947, Harry was united in marriage with Shirley Fuhrman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica.
Harry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township and the American Legion Post No. 4. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Harry worked for Upton Industries in industrial heat treating.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley, and three daughters, Cheryl (Frank) Siu, Linda (Russell) Nieman, and Wendy (Timothy) Dornan; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Siu, Bonnie Milton, Laura (Michael) Groeller, Paul Nieman, Joseph Nieman, Kevin (Sarah) Dornan, and Kerry Black; eight great grandchildren; six siblings, Randall Bassett, Alvin Bassett, Ivan (Elizabeth) Bassett, Gladys Bassett, and Virginia (George) Carpenter. Harry was predeceased by four siblings, Marjorie Schenck, Leslie Bassett, Dorothy Rosso, and June Strevel.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens with Reverend Thees Hoft, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Clinton Grove Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton Township.
Visiting hours are on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
