Mike Bassett
(November 17, 1958 ? August 13, 2015)
William M. Bassett (Mike), 56, of Musella, GA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 13, 2015, after battling Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Mike was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Macon, GA, to William and Jane Bassett. Mike was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Mike was an exceptional carpenter. Everything he built turned out amazing. Mike loved working on race cars, which his brother and friends drove. Mike went back to school (CGTC) at the age of 51 where he received his GED. In 2013, Mike graduated at the top of his class and with honors for Drafting Technology. While enrolled at CGTC Mike was involved in Skills USA. He and his team won the Regional and National Championship for 2013. Mike loved helping people and even now after death he will still be helping others. Mike donated his brain to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center in Cleveland Ohio, in hopes this will help find a cure faster, so that others and their families will have hope.
He is survived by parents, William (Pop) and Jane Bassett of Musella, GA; ex-wife, Brenda Bassett of Musella, GA; daughter, Nina Bryan (Brendon Bryan) of Musella, GA; siblings, Sandra Armstrong (Greg Armstrong) of Musella, GA and David Bassett (Tammy Bassett) of Musella, GA; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
