G.C. Bass Jr., Druggist, Dies
Native of Decherd, Well Known Here
Funeral services for George Calvin Bass Jr., 60, well-known Chattanooga druggist who died Sunday at his home, 301 Walnut Street, will be held at the chapel of the Cosmopolitan Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o?clock.
Mr. Bass, who was born in Decherd, Tenn., came to Chattanooga at an early age and for the past 25 years has operated a drug store at 440 Market Street.
He rece3ived his early education in Decherd and in Winchester, Tenn., later studied medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
He was active in civic and religious activities in Chattanooga, being at one time member of the Knights of Pythias and the Dokes Club and an active member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna L. Bass; two sisters, Misses Esther Lee Bass and Mannie Bass of Decherd, and four brothers, F.M., John and Ed Bass of Decherd, and W.H. Bass of Chattanooga.
Active pallbearers are John Dodson, Ira Hennessee, J.H. Meir, George W. Fletcher, R.C. Stanley and John Guider. Honorary pallbearers are Tom O. Duff, Wiley O. Couch, Jack D. Hixson, A.B. Hoge, Dr. V.V. Baxley and T.W. Killough.
