James F. Bassett
James F. Bassett, 64, died yesterday at home. The Pittsburgh native lived in Fort Wayne since 1955. He retired in 1988 as a truck driver for Food Marketing Co. after 28 years. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 82 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his wife, Ruth A.; a son, James F. Bassett II of Fort Wayne; stepdaughters, Laura A. Bollinger of White Pigeon, Mich., and Michele R. Schoenherr of Sawyer Air Forice Base, Mich.; brothers, John of Fort Wayne and William and Robert, both of Pittsburgh; a sister, Peggy Brough of Huson, Mont.; and three grandchildren. Services are 1 p.m. Monday and calling is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts to the Allen County Cancer Society.
